Depth of burial of the piping
In order to protect the piping network against the risks of perforation or mechanical damage, the following minimum depths are prescribed
- Under a lawn, grassy area: 15cm (6'') ;
- In a plantation of perennials, trees, shrubs, annuals, etc. In a perennial plantation, trees, shrubs, annuals, etc.: 30 cm (12'')
- In a vegetable garden: 45cm (18'').
Installation of the piping
Hortiplan can use one of the following methods to install the piping:
In soil that allows it, by using a vibrating blade machine of the "by pulling" or "by depositing" type; or by digging trenches with a machine called a "trencher", or simply by hand;
Compaction
Hortiplan performs adequate compaction:
- for trenches, in successive layers;
- for vibrating blades, by closing the cut adequately.
Debris in the piping system
Hortiplan must prevent debris from entering the piping system during installation and must, when the system is turned on, make sure that any debris that is detrimental to the flow of water in the system is removed or expelled..
Areas not to be irrigated
In the interest of water conservation and to avoid inconveniencing pedestrians, the horticultural irrigation system shall avoid watering inert surfaces, i.e., not supporting vegetation, such as;
- Driveways;
- Parking lots;
- Streets and highways;
- Public sidewalks;
- Perishable fences;
- Building walls;
- Swimming pools;
- Windows.
- Watering of neighbors' yards should also be avoided.
Aesthetics in the installation and design of the horticultural irrigation system
The horticultural irrigation system shall be designed and installed in a manner that is unobtrusive and neat. It should not detract from the appearance of the landscape.
- Sprinklers should be installed vertically, "level";
- Always use manholes or access boxes for the various underground valves used in the system;
- Manholes or access boxes should be of sufficient size to facilitate service;
- Covers for emergent sprinklers, manholes or access boxes should not extend above the final grading and should be installed "level";
